About Simon

I'm Simon — a Mackay-based video, photography and sound tech. I've spent over 20 years around corporate AV, conferences and live events, working for a local video production company before going out on my own, full-time.

These days I run a solo production business rather than a big agency — bringing in contractors and freelancers when a job needs more hands, but keeping you dealing with one person throughout: me, from the first phone call to the final files.

My style is authentic and relaxed rather than heavily staged — modern, visually strong, and paced for how people actually watch video today, whether that's a polished brand film or something more casual and personality-driven for social media.

What I'm best at is candid, in-the-moment photography — catching a genuine reaction rather than lining people up for a posed shot. It's why the sports work resonates the way it does, and it carries straight over into events and corporate coverage too: real moments rather than stiff, staged ones.

Based in Mackay, I mostly work across Central and North Queensland — the Whitsundays, Bowen, Moranbah, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns — for local businesses, construction and mining companies, councils, sporting clubs, schools, property developers and events. West Queensland's on the table too for the right job.

Outside the core production business, I also run Simon's Sport Pics, a sports photography and content brand, and I do the live sound for festivals and pubs right across North Queensland.
